seeing as SSM has the sword, if akatsuki and hawk had someting to give as well i would see them being more appealing
like
Akatsuki gets
akatsuki cloak which reduce ninjutsu damage by 10%?
can seal bijuus
akatsuki ring increase damage by 5%?
hawk gets
custom CS with a 1.3x boost?

Pretty sure they were already thinking of adding akatsuki's rings for their boosts.
Such as
Itachi's/朱: Has a chance to apply random genjutsu on punch.
Kisame's/南: I would say blocks 50% chakra drain from all sources besides samehada.
Kakuzu's/北: Increase element jutsus width by 2 tiles.
Hidan's/三: Allows all weapon's to inflict bleed.
Diedera's/青: Can't be froze/paralized/manipulated by sharingan.
Sasori's/玉: Poison damage you deal tic's at least 7 times. (4 times if they are a boss)
Zetsu's/亥: Allows you to walk through and along one tile deep walls/objects.
orochimaru's/空: Able to lay out snakes in random areas you can teleport to.
konan's/白: When ever you are hit you have a chance to activate a paper with a random effect. (explosion tag, stuns/bleeds/burns the attacker for a moment.)
Nagato: Able to summon other members at will.
Just some ideas.
